Do You Dare Roam New York's Haunted Saratoga County Homestead?

Apr 04, 2023

The buildings and surrounding property of the Saratoga County Homestead in Galway, New York have been the subject of many stories and urban legend over the years. The urge to explore the surgery room, chapel and theater often compels people to enter illegally. Now you can do it legally and help renovate the property to it's past glory.

For a limited time, Saratoga County Homestead will be open for tours, where you will be allowed to roam the haunted floors of the former sanatorium.

Haunted Nights presents an opportunity for a photography tour of Saratoga County Homestead. These tours are 2 hours long and will cover the basement, first and second floors. You will have the opportunity to visit this grand old sanatorium legally for the first time in over 40 years!

Photo Tours are scheduled for Saturday May 20th from 12 noon - 4pm and Sunday May 21st from 12 noon until 6pm and tickets start at just $30. This will be a semi-free-roam tour, you will be required to stay on each floor with the group, but will be free to roam that floor to take photos.

Gina Pelletier of Selkirk, New York recently shared some of her photos and tour experience with me.

In the kitchen, while trying to find a good setting for a photo, something whispered at me. That made me a little uneasy. I didn't hang out to find out what it said. In the basement there were 3 of us with 3 different cameras and none of them would work properly at first. Once we got towards the end of the basement, where we go to the first floor, they worked fine. It was a little odd and unnerving.
