A woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. at the intersection of of Reservoir Drive and Diamond Street, according to reports from 6ABC and NBC10.

Police said that a damaged wheelchair was found at the scene when they arrived but it was unclear if the woman had been in the wheelchair or pushing it across the street when she was hit.

Two people who initially found the woman told police that she was initially semi-conscious, but officials pronounced her dead at the scene.

“We know this female was hit with such force she was launched out of one of her boots that she was wearing, because one is on the highway. And 100 feet away she’s lying with another boot on,” Chief Inspector Scott Small said to 6ABC. “We’re hoping our real-time cameras either recorded the vehicle prior to or after striking this female.”

Police told NBC10 they hoped that some broken car parts found at the scene of the accident could help them figure out what type of car was involved.
